Professional Development Seminars
Coach Bowyer has been conducting seminars, clinics and events for various sport teams and corporate business across the nation for the last twenty five years. As the former head wrestling coach at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA, Coach Bowyer transformed the JMU wrestling team into one of the finest collegiate wrestling programs in the south. He received a B.S. in Mathematics in 1988, and a M.S. in Kinesiology in 1995. A member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame – Virginia Chapter and the James Madison University Athletic Hall of Fame, he was a 3x NCAA qualifier and 4x NCAA Eastern Regional finalist. He still holds the JMU win record as an athlete and a coach and has been twice named CAA and Virginia State Coach of the Year. His past positions as Director of Operations, Events, Coaching Education and Annual Giving for the National Wrestling Coaches Association as well as National Sales manager for Brute Wrestling provides him with a diverse and unique resume and skill set. His seminars are geared to developing and identifying, leadership traits and qualities, as well as developing goals through a systematic time management program. Time will be spent on team building and program development to maximize productivity for specific groups or organizations. His seminars and clinics can be custom tailored to meet the specific needs of each organization. Below is a brief synapse of each subject area and what is discussed.
Team Building & Problem Solving
Time will be spent on developing team unity and how to get individuals to work together as a unit, focusing on the importance of communication and identifying and solving problems. Individuals will work together to solve problems and identify their strength and weaknesses to improve productivity.
Time will be spent on identifying leadership traits, styles, and roles with the focus on differentiating between a manager and a leader. Individuals will complete various tasks and inventories to identify their leadership skills.
